Mentoring Community

Our purpose is to empower the next generation of students and global communities to shape our shared, sustainable energy future. The mentoring community connects professionals with student teams working on relevant project topics, enabling mentors to share their expertise to foster critical thinking and innovative designs. Mentors are encouraged to facilitate discussions by exploring new perspectives on a problem without providing answers or deliverables.

Mentor Opportunities: We need mentors that can provide:


  1. Team Mentors- who are a sounding board for competing teams and who asks questions on how the team is approaching their design process and deliverables.  A Team Mentor need not be an expert, rather they bring some experience in energy solutions delivery plus basic knowledge of project & design management.  One mentor per team.  Since a competition these are “virtual close door” meetings” with competition approaches held confidential.

  2. Topic Mentors -  who may spend a “virtual open office” session (with participants from more than one team) sharing knowledge on select topics, e.g., how to specify and decide components in a microgrid, how to calculate life cycle carbon intensity for a community, etc.
